| The Quail Lodge is a wonderful place to stay. From the moment we arrived, we were greeted warmly by the door man and valet parking attendants who immediately helped me out of our vehicle and offered to get us some bottled water. The gentleman who checked us in (Tony) was also very helpful and accommodating to our requests. The continental breakfast served at Edgar's is adequate. It is about a five-seven minute walk to the restaurant, which we do not mind at all. We had a fantastic romantic weekend and would love to stay here again. |

| To be honest, a review of Quail Lodge Resort as a hotel is slightly pointless as it closes its doors in November, continuing to operate as a golf club only. However I’m making a point of writing this review as personally I feel that this is a great shame – it offers comfortable rooms, an idyllic setting and a fantastic location for touring California’s jaw-droppingly stunning central coast. As a pair of 30 year-old English gay men we probably stuck out a mile amongst the retired Republican golfers and their bored wives who seemed to make up the rest of the clientele!
Quail Lodge is set in the middle of a valley, equidistant from Carmel-by-the-Sea and Monterey. Rooms are all ground floor lodges set around the edge of a golf course and offer a charming, comfortable and extremely relaxing space to simply kick back and be yourself (ironically, my partner and I are not golfers – we chose Quail Lodge because of its location and positive reviews of the accommodation). It was a beautifully isolated space – we spent most of our time reading, or sitting in the nicely landscaped front garden area.
In terms of its facilities, there is a spa, although we didn’t visit it. There is a swimming pool and a Jacuzzi tub, both of which were very quiet in the mornings and well suited to a bit of pre-breakfast exercise. The bar was pleasant and had a great selection of Californian wines and the restaurant, Edgar’s, offered a complimentary breakfast of a high standard. |

| Quiet, relaxed and comfortable. Although neither my wife nor I are golfers, this golf-centered resort was pristine, accomodating and relaxing. My 12 year old son and I enjoyed the driving range and the 9-hole putting green where we had some friendly competition. Edgars's, the on-site restaurant, is really terrific. |

| This place was so nice and relaxing. Although the hotel was booked it almost felt like we had the whole place to ourselves. The staff was very friendly and some of them even made me feel like I was visiting family with how nice and friendly they were! I wanted to stay for another week, but we only stayed there Friday and Saturday night. I went with a group of five including myself and everyone said they would tell everyone they knew about it. Special recommendation to those who are looking for a romantic time together. |

| We enjoyed our stay at Quail Lodge! It was very intimate; the room and grounds were beautiful! Large rooms and a luxurious bathroom with big bathtub. We enjoyed the restaurant on property; it was romantic and a delicious gourmet meal. |

| Quiet, peaceful room with private patio overlooking golf course greens and ponds. Staff friendly and immediately responsive to internet connection problem. My only issue was the obviously male designed bathroom - really high sink and no foot shelf in the shower for easy leg shaving. |

| What a great deal on a wonderful resort. My 4 year old cried when we left...she now wants to move to Carmel. We couldn't have been happier with the place. |

| This was a fabulous getaway for the weekend: total luxury, great location near Big Sur. The only thing that sucked was for how much you pay, the continental breakfast that comes with the room was absolutely a let-down. Nothing hot (fruit and cold cereal) and the restaurant is a bit of a walk, a nice walk, but still a walk! |

| My husband and I recently stayed at the Quail Lodge for one night in February. Our only complaint was that we were only able to stay one night. The service was great, the comfort of the room was superior as well. I would recommend to the hotel staff that because they were not completely booked, it would have been nice to be offered an upgrade and then it would have been up to us to agree or reject. It would have given us option. The restaurant on site was good but over priced for the meal.
You pay the tips upfront as a fee and I think this works really well. Everyone went out of their way to make our stay so enjoyable.
I would recommend this hotel especially for those of us who enjoy a quieter, slower pace. My husband wants to go back and play a few rounds of golf. I will probably not go for the spa as the prices are a little expensive for the services given today's economy - better specials might tempt me though. |
