| Stayed at the Lodge for two nights. The hotel and gardens are very well presented. Our room, no.4, was excellent, with a small outdoor patio looking onto gardens. We had a meal in Wickets restaurant which was fairly expensive, but very good. In room, complimentary goodies were very welcome, ie. two small bottles of wine, brownies etc. Overall, our stay at Bernardus was very enjoyable and we would certainly visit again. |

| April (her name) started our stay off perfectly - incredible phone demeanor, customer service, and professionalism.....we arrived, the bell/valet staff is great. Our room was fantastic. The tub heavenly. Dinner at the restaurant in front of the fireplace was surreal. It was much needed, appreciated - and we couldn't have asked for better. Thank you ! |

| liked it very much . One con; the hot tub didn't open til 9:30AM and it was too enclosed. Look at Carmel Valley Ranch's beautiful infinity hot tub. |

| The hotel is located in Carmel Valley. It is a very nice location, no affected by the incoming clouds from the sea, which produce a completely cloud covered sky and temperatures about 60 degrees in summer. We were staying from 7-10 August 2011 at a rate lower as indicated in their flyer. The internet booking said: taxes and other fees might be applicable. In practice this meant a substantial additional fee each day. The room was on the first floor with a fireplace, size about 400 sft and part of a little bungalow comprising four rooms. The problem is that rooms have practically no sound insulation. Depending on your neighbors above and next to you, you may enjoy tranquility or not. Furthermore, privacy of the rooms o the first floor is somewhat restricted, since people might be walking by. The cuisine of Bernardus Lodge is good, service is very good, the place is charming. |
